Scottish Rite Committees
 
Every member of the Scottish Rite is encouraged to think about their skills and abilities and consider giving back to the Consistory.  Below are listing of the many committees and groups that operate as part of the Des Moines Scottish Rite.  Think about where you might fit in!
 

Front DoorCLASS MARSHALS are in charge of the new class during a reunion. They coordinate the with the Candidates on schedule and instruct them in Scottish Rite Protocol.

STAGE CREW sets up lodge room furnishings for each degree to meet the needs of the ritualists. It also operates the curtain and produces off-stage sound effects.

ELECTRIC TECHNICIANS control lighting from a booth in the south balcony as required for the effective portrayal of each degree.

SOUND TECHNICIANS coordinate placement of microphones with stage crew to meet needs of ritualists.

ASSISTANT TYLERS are stationed in lobby during reunions and scheduled meetings to check membership cards and insure that members sign the register.

WARDROBE WORKERS are responsible for readying costumes for each degree, seeing that ritualists are correctly attired and properly storing robes following the degree.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE greets brothers when they enter the temple and offer such assistance as may be required during reunions.

VISITATION COMMITTEE calls on hospitalized and home-bound brothers.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE promotes Scottish Rite Masonry and offers Masons in good standing the opportunity to join. Every Scottish Rite Mason should consider himself a member of this committee.

DINING ROOM COMMITTEE assists the "Kitchen Krew" in setting up dining room. Controls access to the dining room and buffet lines and directs the seating at luncheons and dinners. Double Eagle Chorus

DOUBLE EAGLE CHORUS provides choral accompaniment to degrees and rituals, adding to the beauty and solemnity.

CONSISTORY BAND brings spirit and excitement to the dinner hour on the Council of Kadosh day of the reunions and performs on other appropriate occasions.

PROPERTY WORKSHOP is a group of brothers with carpentry, painting, electrical and handyman skills who meet weekly to work on temple projects.

RITUALISTS portray the degrees at reunions.

SPECIAL EFFECT EFFORT TEAM act as tour guides and sell Masonic Fraternal materials.

PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE assists in producing the newsletter and the temple's other communications.

MAIL CREW helps with the mailings and other office overloads.

SPEAKER'S BUREAU offers programs to be given at Masonic functions for the purpose of membership promotion.

TELEPHONE NETWORK notifies members of important events and cancellations.

SCOTTISH RITE CLUB join or form a group of Scottish Rite Masons in your community that meet for Masonic and social events.

KITCHEN "KREW" are the brothers who prepare our meals. Des Moines Scottish Rite ConsistoryYou don't have to be able to cook as there is a wide variety of jobs to be done. This group has fun and they eat well too.

MAKE-UP TECHNICIANS help create the characters to portray the degrees. If you have make- up experience or would like to learn, you are needed here.

GOLF OUTING COMMITTEE coordinate the annual Scottish Rite Golf Tournament to benefit Rite Care and the Des Moines Consistory Building Trust.

SCOTTISH RITE AMBASSADORS welcome and greet outside groups to the building for special events.
